Hendrik de Meijer

The painter Hendrik de Meijer, born in Amsterdam in 1744, is often confused with the 17th century artist of the same name who worked in Rotterdam. In contrast to the marine painter, however, this de Meijer devoted himself to depicting the lives of the working people of his time. De Meijer brings his figures, trees, cottages and animals to life with the finest brushstrokes.
