In his "Full Moon" project of 1999, Michael Light selected items from the NASA Photo Archive, which comprises some 32,000 images. They were photographs taken by the astronauts on their Apollo missions between 1968 and 1972. Light chose the visually most powerful photos, scanned them in and then edited them digitally. This is what gave them their amazing brilliance and detailed precision. The picture offered here is one of the best-known photos in the series, taken by Harrison Schmitt and showing planet Earth in its entirety, set against the blackness of the universe.
