Robert Phillips (London 1810 - 1881), ca. 1866.

The spectacular archeological finds and the digging of the Suez canal in the mid 19th century led to increased public interest in ancient treasures. Robert Phillips was one of the leading goldsmiths in London, and responded quickly to this new trend by specialising in archaeological revival style jewellery. He was awarded the gold medal at the Paris International Exhibition in 1867.
