A Kyoto school ivory netsuke of a laughing Hotei. Late 18th/early 19th century

Seated and raising his head as if looking at the moon, the loosely tied robe revealing his fleshy breasts and ample belly, the robe covered with leafy scrolls.
Height 3.9 cm; width 4.6 cm
