A large Kikugawa school ivory manjû of Oniwaka about to kill a giant carp. Mid-19th century

Carved in sunken relief, with Oniwaka, the young Benkei, wrestling with a giant carp and about to kill him with a knife. The large rinbô pattern on his garment refers to his later life as a yamabushi. The eye pupil of the carp of black horn. Signed with kaô.
