A rare silver gilt arts & crafts necklace.

A solid chain supporting a three-piece pectoral comprising two wing shaped sections and a central rectangular medallion. The pieces decorated with finely chased and engraved scenes from fables after Lafontaine. The interior of the medallion containing two silver frames. With a spring ring clasp. In the original red velvet case, inscribed to the lid "MAPPIN & WEBB SILVERSMITHS TO THE QUEEN LONDON & SHEFFIELD". L 40 cm; H of pendant 6 cm (incl. hanging loop). Weight 80 g.
