A Hamburg parcel gilt silver columbine cup and cover. Marks of Hinrich Ohmßen, 1642 - 58.

Designed as a lobed and waisted cup with chased acanthus decor and corresponding slip lid, supported by a cast baluster shaft resting on a lobed base. A tiny loss to the base of the shaft. H 32.5 cm, weight 250 g.

Cf. also the so-called "Altenstadt-Pokal" by Ohmßen from the collection of Yves Saint-Laurent, sold by Christie's in Paris in February 2009 as lot 208.
