A Central Rhenish carved wooden figure of a crowned female saint, ca. 1470/80.

Carved in the round. With partially overpainted older polychromy.. The saint stands in a gently swaying contrapposto with the right foot extended. She wears a green girded dress and a red cloak draped over her shoulders and drawn around the body to form thick folds. The piece is finely carved throughout, and even the long waves of hair and drapery of the cloak to the reverse of the figure have been carefully worked.
The right hand lost. A short vertical crack to the reverse on the shoulder. Minor wear. Mounted on a modern wooden plinth. Height 73 cm (without plinth).
