Flemish 2nd half 15th century

A Flemish carved wooden figure of the pensive Christ, 2nd half 15th century.

Carved in the round, with minimal remains of former polychromy. Christ is shown seated on a bench wearing the crown of thorns and draped in a long robe, His hands bound by a cord. The back of the bench is divided into four panels containing linenfold relief mouldings.
With replacements to the lower front edge and the back corners. Mounted to a newer wooden plinth. Height 26.5 cm (without plinth).
