Liu Jian

Two abstract compositions. Ink and acrylic on paper. One dated cyclically wuchen (1988), the other dated 1993 (?), both signed Jian? and sealed niu (ox). (2)

Liu grew up in Shanghai and graduated from the Art Academy of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) in 1983. Until 1986 he worked as a staff officer for culture in the PLA and later lectured at the Academy for Chinese painting in Shanghai. Since the Tiananmen "incident" he lives in Toronto, Canada. His works were shown in group and solo exhibitions all over the world.
