A large gilded and lacquered cement figure of an emperor. Qing dynasty, 18th/19th century

A large gilded and lacquered figure of an emperor seated with legs wide apart, the hands crossed and covered by a piece of fabric, the hu sceptre missing, on the head a crown fastend by a pin. A few chips. Qing period, 18th/19th century.
Height 105 cm

The figure possibly represents one of the Nine Emperors (Jiu wang), who personify the nine stars of the Ursa Major. They were especially popular in southern China.
