A Pala black stone stele of Surya with both hands (broken) raised with palms out holding the stems of lotuses blossoming above the shoulders, the lotus fully visible. He is flanked by Danda and Pingala and their wives. In the centre between his legs the earth goddess Prithivi and the legless charioteer Aruna, on the plinth seven horses. Northeastern India. 12th century.
