A German Art Deco silver and rock crystal ornament.

A German Art Deco silver and rock crystal ornament. Comprising a facetted sodalite pillar mounted in silver to a rock crystal base and supporting a rectangular rock crystal plaque with an intaglio depiction of the three graces holding an emerald, a sapphire, a ruby and a transition-cut diamond in their hands (ca. 0.25 ct). Unmarked. The socle with inscribed dedication: "Fr. K & Co - R K zum 8.2.29". The mountings slightly loose. H 16 cm. Socle 7 x 4 cm.
Ca. 1929.

The present work was probably intended as a prize or jubilee present and is certainly a one of a kind piece. The style of the figures is reminiscent of Bohemian and Swedish art deco glass design, the most famous proponents of which were Joseph Drahonovský (Volavec 1877 - Prague 1938) and Edvard Hald.
