Landshut early 16th century.

An early 16th century Landshut carved wooden figure of Saint Roch.

Carved in the round, with the original polychromy.. A figure of the Saint standing in contrapposto on a conforming octagonal, moulded plinth. He is dressed in a girded robe, long cloak, pilgrim's hat and bag. The saint pulls back his robe to reveal the sore on his leg and his other attribute, the dog, is shown seated at his feet. The work is carved in fine detail and deeply undercut.
The left hand lost, minor losses to the polychromy. The back right corner of the socle with an older replacement, the front left corner and the dog newer replacements. Height 61 cm.
