An Italian carved hardwood figure of the mourning Virgin, circa 1750.

Carved in the round, deeply hollowed out to the underside and set onto a plinth. The polychromy probably renewed in the 19th century.. The grieving Virgin Mary is depicted seated on a rock and wringing her hands. With a gap to the reverse for the cross.
Minor losses to the reverse, minimal wear. Height 29.5 cm.
