Before Andy Warhol decided on the final design for his work, the screen prints were produced on newsprint. They reflect the creative process of the artist, the partly experimental attempts which prefaced his work. The newsprints offer themselves clues to each work process, explaining why sometimes coffee rings or traces of mounting are found. Mildred Schell classes our example as a selected single piece which on Warhol's permission was entered in his inventory. This is testified by the stamp Andy Warhol © found on the front of the work.
