An underglaze-blue and iron-red 'dragon' dish. Daoguang period (1820-1850)

An underglaze-blue and iron-red 'dragon' dish with rounded sides rising to a slightly flared rim, decorated to the centre of the interior with a medallion enclosing a writhing iron-red dragon on an underglaze-blue ground of cresting waves, the exterior with nine further dragons on a similar ground below a narrow band of stylized flowers. Six-character Daoguang seal mark and of the period (1820-1850).
