A late 15th century Franconian wooden Anna Selbdritt group

Carved three-quarters in the round, the reverse flattened and slightly hollowed out. With older, partially overpainted, polychromy. Depicting Saint Anne seated on a bench beside her daughter Mary, embracing her with her right arm. Mary turns towards the nude Christ Child, who is shown as a lively infant reaching towards the apple being offered to him. The closed, compact composition of the group is accentuated by the curving seam of Saint Anne's gown.
Minimal wear. Height 63 cm.
