Probably Flemish early 18th century

A probably Flemish early 18th century carved ivory Corpus Christi

Carved in the round, the reverse of the perizonium slightly flattened. The arms visibly attached. An expressive work showing Christ crucified with four nails, characterised by the detailed depiction of the saviour's body and especially the fine carving of the facial features, hair and crown of thorns.
With vertical, hairline cracks, otherwise in perfect condition. Height 29 cm, width of arms 19 cm.
