a) A slender bronze vase in shape of a double gourd with a black patina imitating iron. Seal mark to the base Kaishû. b) A bronze vase of squat double gourd shape with a black patina imitating iron, marked at the base in seal script Kaishû. Around 1960-1970. Both with tomobako inscribed on the lid: ... dô hisago hana-ire; and on the reverse signed Kaishû saku and sealed Kaishû. (2)

Takahashi Kaishû (1905-2004) was a famous metal artist in Kanazawa and named Living National Treasure for the Kaga zôgan technique in 1982. Compare: Felice Fischer, The Art of Japanese Craft. 1875 to the present, Philadelphia 2008, p. 56.
