A carved wooden relief of the incredulous St. Thomas, probably Upper Rhine Region, second half 15th century

The reverse and sides flattened. With remains of former polychromy.. This deeply carved high-relief presumably originally formed part of a carved altarpiece. It shows the kneeling figure of St. Thomas laying his hand in the wound of the ressurrected Christ.
The staff in Christ's left hand lost. The underside of the plinth with plaster additions. Wear. 85 x 39 x 11 cm.
