A Franconian carved wood Corpus Christi, circa 1480/90

Carved in the round, minimal remains of presumably original former polychromy.. Christ with horizontal outstretched arms, bowed head tilted to the side, legs parallel and feet crossed (three-nail type). From under the Crown of Thorns the hair falls freely down His back and chest. Dressed only in a loincloth, knotted to the side. The lateral sweep of the body is carved freely, the tip of the loincloth formerly attached to the other side now lost.
Some fingers lost, fine vertical cracks and old insect damage to the reverse. Height 80 cm, width of arms 76 cm.
