A Renaissance Revival pectoral cross

18k yellow geld Latin cross with quatrefoil terminals with 18k red gold foliate appliques, symmetrically set with five large sapphire cabochons (ca. 15 x 9.5 mm; ca. 7.9 x 6 mm; 2 x ca. 7.5 x 11 mm, ca. 9.5 x 7 mm) surrounded by old-cut diamonds in silver settings (ca. 3.10 ct in total) and 20 tiny sapphires. A round layered onyx cameo with a portrait of the Virgin Mary to the centre. In a later leather-bound fitted case. H 13.5 cm. W 9 cm. Weight 74.7 g.
