A set of South German early Baroque weighing scales

A large, rare set of weighing scales in cast iron and brass with a double-headed eagle. Three foundry marks, two indistinct small round marks. H 77, W 85.5 cm.
17th C.

The double-headed eagle without crowns indicates that this piece may have been property of an Imperial city. The fact that it is an early precision measurement instrument, probably of a legally binding nature, connotes a likely origin in South Germany.
