A Bavarian carved limewood Nativity relief, circa 1530

The reverse flattened. Minimal remains of older polychromy. This high relief depicts Joseph, Christ Child and the seated Mary before the stable in which Christ was born. The most likely location of origin is thought to be Passau.
The Child's feet and the Virgin's left hand lacking. The gable replaced. Some wear. 43 x 30 x 5.5 cm.
