Two North German carved wooden figures of Apostles, circa 1420

Carved partially in the round, the reverse flattened and hollowed out. Remains of older polychromy. Two full-figure depictions of bearded men standing on simple plinths. They are shown dressed in long robes and holding books in their hands. The identifying attributes in their other hands are since lost, but the manner in which they are depicted would speak for apostles. The figures are designed as corresponding pieces.
With minimal wear. Height of each 52 cm.
