A Mechelen carved wood figure of the blessing Christ Child, circa 1500

Carved in the round. With extensive remains of partially overpainted older polychromy. A figure of the nude Christ Child standing in a gently swaying pose, holding His right hand aloft in blessing. The left hand presumably held a globe, which has since been lost.
The left forearm and tip of the left foot lacking, the tip of the right foot appears to be an addition. Mounted on a wooden base. Height 34 cm (without base).
