A late 15th century Italian pax panel

Cast bronze and brass, remains of older patina, enamel. Formed as a stylised Renaissance altarpiece from the centre of which emerges the separately cast half-figure of Christ as the Man of Sorrows. The arch is occupied by an enamel panel with a depiction of God the Father blessing.
Wear with losses to the enamel. Mounted on a velvet lined panel. 17 x 13.5 x 2.5 cm.
