Lower Rhine Region circa 1700

A Lower Rhenish carved wood figure of the Virgin Immaculata, circa 1700

Carved in the round. With remains of older, presumably original, polychromy.. A standing full-figure depiction of the Virgin with Her hands raised in prayer. She rests Her right foot on the serpent twined around the globe, standing upon the crescent moon with Her left.
Left tip of the crescent moon lost. Several vertical cracks. Wear. Height 116 cm.
