Franconia 2nd half 15th century

A Franconian carved wooden bust of Saint Barbara, 2nd half 15th century

Carved in the round. Partially overpainted older polychromy. A half-figure depiction of the Saint designed for a frontal and slightly lowered viewpoint, holding her attribute, a chalice, in her right hand.
The left hand replaced. Narrow vertical cracks to the lower section. Minimal wear. Mounted on a newer wooden plinth. Height 36 cm (without plinth).
