An early 16th century Mechelen carved wooden figure of Anna Selbdritt

Carved three-quarters in the round, the reverse flattened and partially hollowed out, the sides chamferred. Minimal remains of former polychromy. Depiction of the Christ Child standing on a throne between Saint Anne on the right and the Virgin Mary on the left. The mark of the city of Mechelen is stamped twice onto the reverse of the piece, along with a hand-written label stating that the sculpture originates from St. Catharinadal Abbey in Oosterhout in the Netherlands.
The Christ Child's left forearm lost. Wear and older insect damage with losses. 30 x 30 x 8 cm.
