A Flemish carved oak relief of Christ carrying the Cross, 1st half 16th century

Carved three-quarters in the round, the reverse flattened. Minimal remains of former polychromy. A pierced high-relief depiction of Christ in the crown of thorns carrying the cross surrounded by the Virgin, Saint John, Mary Magdalene, a soldier, and Simon of Cyrene. This passion scene is a pendant to the following lot, a relief depicting the entombment, which originates from the same workshop.
The right beam of the cross missing. Minor ammendments to the front of the plinth. Vertical cracks. 66 x 31 x 13 cm.
