Pen and ink drawing with brownish wash, over pencil on plain drawing paper (left margin perforated) 32.6 x 19.8 cm Framed under glass. Unsigned. Inscribed 'LIEBE [sic] JACOBO!' in pen and ink within the depiction. - Inscribed "B.H.Hundt" presumably by an unknown hand in pencil verso lower left. - Some traces of creasing running diagonally across the sheet corners.

As a man of letters and poet, Jacob Sureda (1901-1935) pertained to Spain’s artistic avant garde around 1920/1921, but was also accepted as a painter in Düsseldorf in the 1920s where, in the artists’ circles of Johanna Ey, he also met Max Ernst and Otto Dix. Johanna Ey visited him several times in Mallorca, where Sureda died of tuberculosis in 1935.
