A famille rose decorated blue sgraffito-ground vase. Republic period (1912-1949)

A square vase, decorated to each side with four scholars, including the calligrapher Wang Xizhi with an ink stone and the poet Tao Yuanming with chrysanthemum, all reserved on a blue-glazed sgraffito-ground of feathery scrolls, while the interior of the neck and the base are covered with an opaque finely mottled turquoise and purplish-blue robin's egg-glaze. Hongxian four-character sealmark.
