Probably Franconia 2nd half 15th century

Carved wood relief of Saint Dorothy, Anthony, and Margaret, probably Franconian, 2nd half 15th century

Carved from nine vertical panels and subsequently joined. The backs slightly hollowed out. Dark brown stain with minimal remains of former polychromy. A pierced relief depicting three figures of Saints. Saint Dorothy is depicted with a basket of flowers, Anthony with a bell and a pig, and Margaret with a dragon. The fine quality of the carving is particularly evident in the voluminous appearance generated by the works despite the thinness of the panels, which is especially designed to be observed from a distance. With a red varnish collector's seal to the reverse.
Saint Margaret's cross and the lower edge of the centre of the relief replaced. Minimal losses backed with wood. Wear with minor losses. The joins to the back of the panels partially secured with dovetails and two horizontal splints. 159 x 124 x 5 cm.
