A huanghuali high back armchair. 17th/18th century and later

On four rounded legs with stepped stretchers and footrest, curved arms with curved side posts and a curved top rail and back with two rootwood panels, at the front a beaded apron and apron head spandrel, the soft cane seat of wickerwork. A stretcher beneath one of the seats with an inscription in ink: Shangyang? Huang Dacheng and Xu Apei, referring to a workshop in Shangyang. Several later replacements.
