A small dated Hachmann mortar with lion mascarons

Cast bronze with dark brown patina. With a central lion mascaron flanked by two lions rampant to the front and a shield with the owner's mark supported by two winged half-figures to the reverse. The rim with a broad banderole in Gothic minuscule "willem van geulluch eyeniken s h f", the base inscribed in majuscule "ANNO DOMINI 1601". Dolphin handles. Minor traces of green corrosion. H 12.4, D 13.8 cm. Weight 3.8 kg. Including a corresponding pestle.
