Mechelen early 16th century

A Mechelen carved wood figure of the Christ Child, early 16th century

Carved in the round and with older polychromy. The nude Christ Child stands in contrapposto facing the beholder on a tall octagonal moulded plinth. He holds a globe in His extended left hand and raises his right hand in blessing.
Wear with losses to the front of the plinth. Height 43 cm (with plinth).
