A rare boxwood netsuke of a kirin. 18th/19th century

Seated on its haunches, howling and raising its head with a single horn, the long, elegant scaly body, the flames emanating from the joints and the bushy mane well carved. The eyes and other details accentuated with black ink. Hairline cracks.
