A London bracket clock

Ebony wood, oak, brass and tin inays, glazing. 8-day movement with chain and fusee, spiral gong with faux pendulum, regulator, strike to two bells. Engraved to the dial "F. Gregg LONDON". Two small defects to the wood. H 38.7, W 23.7, D 16.4 cm.
Francis Gregg (1691 - 1747), ca. 1740.

Literature

This clockmaker in: Baillie, Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the world, Reprint 1966, p. 132. Gregg worked in St. Jame's, but went bankrupt in 1729, and became insolvent in 1743.
