An early 15th century French carved ivory Crucifixion relief

Largely freestanding relief carved from a concave ivory panel. Finely carved depiction of Christ crucified with His feet placed upon a subpedaneum and with a skull below Him. On Christ's right side, one soldier extends the sponge with vinegar towards Him, whilst Longinus is shown on the left driving a spear into His side.
The left beam of the cross reattached. Parts of the two staffs lost. Mounted on a velvet covered panel with a plinth. 9.5 x 6 cm.
