An early 18th century German carved ivory figure of Saint John of Nepomuk

Finely carved high-relief depiction of the saint in a clerical gown holding a crucifix and a palm frond. When the piece was purchased in 1964, the sculptor Paul Heermann (1673 Freiberg-1732 Dresden) was suggested as its possible author.
With four drilled holes and two vertical hairline cracks to the base. Securely mounted to a velvet covered panel. 7.8 x 5.7 cm.
