A French carved ivory nutmeg rasp case with an elegant couple, 18th century

With minimal remains of former partial polychromy. A rounded nutmeg rasp case decorated to the front with a relief depiction of a courtly couple dancing in a garden surrounded by ornamental motifs. The covered compartment on the upper reverse of the piece was used to store the nutmeg.
Two hairline cracks. With rasp. 21 x 6.5 cm.
