An ivory netsuke of a group of rats in an abalone shell. Late 19th century

A large group of rats huddle together in an awabi shell while other rats at the rim try to join them. Signed Masamitsu on a green-stained inlaid tablet. The eye pupils of black or brown glass. One group of rats at the rim restuck, another animal at the rim missing.
Height 2. 1 cm; width 4.5 cm
