A Berlin KPM porcelain étagère from a large dinner and dessert service

Unidentified model, fired in five pieces and screw-mounted with ormolu connecting pieces. Comprising a stembowl supported by a central baluster and a smaller, removable stembowl above. Finely decorated with naturalistic flowers, gilt acanthus tendrils, and blue enamel borders. Imperial orb mark. H 33.7, D 24.7 cm.

The elegance and high quality of this two-piece etagere, which originates from a large dessert service, suggest that it was a royal commission. The individual parts of such a piece can be unscrewed and placed on top of one another to form a two- or three-part étagère with bowls of varying sizes.
