A large Spanish ribbed mortar dated 1776

Thick cast bronze with dark brown patina. Of conical form with broad protruding rim. With six vertical baluster form ribs, two of which with curved horizontal bars forming the handles. The rim with a wide band inscribed with the caster's name and date in capital letters "SOJ DE GVAQJN BENJTO SALES 1776", "I am from Joaquin Benito Sales 1776". Slight indentations to the rim. H 19.4, D 24.5 cm. Weight c. 20.5 kg.
