A Parisian silver dessert cutlery set in the original case

Silver; gold-plated. A 121 piece set of silver cutlery consisting of 24 spoons, forks, knives, and fruit knives, 18 coffee spoons, four cream spoons, two casting spoons and one sugar tong. The fruit knives with steel blades. All pieces with threaded décor and engraved with the arms of alliance of the Gent families of Kerchove d'Ousselghem and d'Hane de Steenhuyse. In the original leather-bound box with three sections. Brands: French guarantee stamp for fineness 950, 1838 - 1919, counterstamp Bigorne (Rosenberg no. 5880, 5929), MZ Pierre-Francois Queillé (1834 - 46, Beuque no. 2951). L of the spoons 19; forks 18.7 cm, total weight c. 5,800 g.

The first owners of this cutlery set were presumably Louis-Emmanuel d'Hane de Steenhuyse and Virgine de Kerchove d'Ousselghem, who married on 22nd May 1821.
