A Nuremberg silver flower chalice

Silver; gold-plated. Silver-gilt chalice with a gadrooned foot supporting a figural shaft formed as a boy holding a laurel wreath in his left hand and what is presumably the remains of a sword in his right. Scalloped flower shaped cuppa engraved with flowerheads and applied with three scroll motifs. The domed lid with corresponding décor and a finial formed as a model of a crouching monkey. Brands: BZ Nuremberg, MZ Johann Jacob Clauß (1660 - 89, GNM No. 125), tremolier stitch. H 24.5 cm, weight 187 g.
