A pair of rare Baroque chests

Gilt copper chests with remnants of red cloth, one with a later wooden corpus. Rectangular chests on iron bun feet with hinged lids and stirrup shaped handles. The four sides and the lid decorated with pierced gilt appliques of lions amid tendrils. The angles additionally reinforced with further pierced appliques. Iron lock to the front. With a sliding bolt covering the key hole in the lid. Both locks and keys lost, one locking mechanism extant but fragmentary. H 8.4, W 14, D 8.2 cm.
Attributed to the workshop of Michel Mann, Nuremberg/Augsburg, first quarter 17th C.
