Eight ôban triptychs depicting battles in the Sino-Japanese war (1894-1895). a) Naval battle near Pungdo, Korea, by Kawanabe Gyôsui (1868-1935). b) Harada, opening the gate in Pingyang; Truce flag bearer, both by Mizuno Toshikata. c) The surrender of Port Arthur, by Ogata Gekkô. d) Four other battles by Watanabe Nobukazu (1872-1944), Shunsai Toshimasa (ac. 19th century), Utagawa Kunimasa IV (1848-1920) and Utagawa Kunimatsu (1855–1944). Good to very good impressions and colours, some traces of usage, six triptychs glued together, one backed. (8)
